Here is a health check to run on your chip shot. Check on your weight distribution at setup and through the shot. At address it ought to be about 60 % on your front foot (left foot for right handers) and stay there throughout your swing. Even the best golfers can get into the habit of allowing weight distribution to even out at address or to transfer weight through this shot.

Those who are less skilled or who suffer from the short-game yips will have a tendency to move their weight to the back foot.
